All I Want For Chicago Is...

Teens from Collaboraction’s Youth Ensemble re-unite over Christmas break to get away from all the drama in their lives.  They decide to come from all across the city to Collaboraction. Using leftover items from a Collaboraction show, they perform their pieces they had been rehearsing from before the Christmas break. Each scene giving a glimpse into the life of a teenager living in Chicago today and with a message of love and hope for today’s society.

The set featured a wall of objects assembled to look like that of the Chicago skyline. These objects could be re-arranged to allow for quick setups of different scenes. The floor treatment was designed to evoke the idea of the Chicago River and lakefront during the winter time with ice pieces.

Main scenic elements in this design were the found object set pieces that could be arranged to help transform the space for each scene. When arranged in a specific way, they would create an abstract silhouette of the Chicago skyline.
